catch up

november is off to a good start.

LA has finally cooled down.  it get's darker quicker for more cozy nights.  and 'falling back' didn't affect hank's wake up time this morning.

this cake fell right in with the mood.  a recipe i had laying around and apples that needed to be used.  serendipitous.

hoping the rest of november follows suit.

following suit

i've seen this 'to do list' on a few other blogs and since i'm at a pause for what to write, i'll follow suit.

wanting | a new wardrobe once i get back to my old self.
needing | a trip home- that we're boarding a plane for on monday.
wearing | these pants (in a 3 color rotation) since the night i went into labor.
listening | to outlaw radio on pandora, always.
reading | i just finished the fault in our stars and need another quick read which i hope to fulfill in the aiport book store
traveling | to maryland! 
eating | clean.  trying to at least.
wishing | that i'd win the lottery.
planning | my next move.
playing | in hanky's 'gym'- we're working on tummy time to build up his t-rex arms.
drinking | green juices.  smoothies.  iced coffee.  and trying to remember the water.
trying | to manage my time better.  or make the most of my down time.
feeling | desperate to figure out the next move.
working | on the aforementioned 'next move'.
learning | to slow down and appreciate the slowness. 
practicing | motivating quicker.
mastering | i'm not sure yet.

making time

as mentioned previously, i'm making an extra effort these days to use my time wisely in which to make this time last forever.  but i've found it so difficult to accomplish anything of the like during the day.

our days pass by so quickly and i really couldn't tell you what we've done.  i just spend time with hank.  even when he's sleeping, i guess i'm just watching him.  i love every minute of it and have yet to get bored or wish to be doing anything more.

i have to make a concerted effort to just start moving and doing something productive that takes us a step forward in my goal.

today has been good so far- i wouldn't be able to do it without this wrap.

i guess it's the 'new mom' in me, but i find it hard to just let hank be.  i want him to have my company if he's not being entertained somehow- which as of right now is only provided by the activity gym which only lasts so long.

but i've managed a few things while cuddled like this today and it works.  here's to getting a lot more accomplished.

**also, is it common for babies to sleep with their mouths open?  i know that i do and i can't help but feel guilty that i've passed this on to my son.  at least now, he looks a lot cuter than i do while snoozing.

every day is spent trying to think of ways that i can be paid to be a mom to this little hank.  i keep thinking some genius idea is just going to hit me, but as time keeps ticking i'm thinking i just have to start moving.

17/52:  when we sit you up, you really look like a grown little boy.

18/52:  you never seem to mind your dog brothers and the licks they smother you with.

19/52:  i try to keep auntie updated during the day but we have to make sure you're in some sort of coordinating get up.  this day was a second attempt- frog blanket matching the couch you're laying on- we do what we can.

20/52:  first day at the beach.  actually, this may have been your second.  you always snooze the whole time- the perfect beach buddy.  

21/52:  we're just starting to get outfits together.  sometimes we can even manage coordinating the binky.

13/52-  the day we brought you home- outfitted in a crab onesie representing your mom and dads home state.

16/52- we don't do too many outfits because we can't seem to keep them clean for very long, but when you are suited up, you're pretty darn sweet.

12/52: week 40- well mm, your due date came and went and now we're playing the waiting game.   certainly not the most flattering photo, but our days are spent a lot like this- just resting and waiting for you.

11/52: week 39- any day now.

the boys have earned nicknames as my 'right hand man' and 'my left hand man'.  no matter what we're doing- opie is always on my right side and waylon to my left and mini, you're front and center

ready

alright, mini- you're free to show up any time now.  projects are completed.  this little jammy will make do as a dream catcher/weaving/wall hanging.  anything i can whip up between now and the arrival will be an added bonus.

mini accomplishments

mini sweater- complete.

mini blanket- complete.  the quilt just isn't going to happen before mm gets here, but this will work just fine.  

i've been wanting to use this ikat indigo fabric i found at a flea market last year and then added this organic sherpa from purl soho.  i combined these two blanket projects from the purl bee in order to come up with my result- see here and here.

just need to start and finish some sort of dream catcher/wall hanging and my nesting will feel complete.

mini sweater

i need to get moving on the mini's sweater.  above is what i'm planning- california themed with fringe in neutrals for my mystery california baby.

i started the body of this sweater, i don't know how long ago.  it's a cream base cardigan- the body is already knitted so it's too late to try out an intarsia, but i'll add a duplicate stitch and/or embroidery and then some fringe.  hope it turns out as i envision it.

i can hardly wait to wear jeans again.  let alone a normal outfit that doesn't involve an elastic waistband.  a cocktail on an airplane might be nice too.

i put this in my shopping cart and was minutes away from checking out before it dawned on me that i don't know if mm is even a girl.  that's a serious case of pregnancy brain or some intuitive thinking.  or i'm just plain crazy.  

either way, hackwith design house seems to be popping up everywhere.  myself or the mini will have to be wearing something from lisa's collection soon.

7/52: 35 weeks.  getting there.

8/52: 36 weeks and this marks the beginning of my maternity leave.  there's nothing i love more than free time, but there's a certain guilt attached to not working.  i'm hardly going to have a hard time not enjoying this time to myself though in order to relax and prepare for mini.

i have a bit of a shopping problem and i was afraid that with a baby on the way i was going to be shopping for two.  luckily, it's hardly been the case.  at about four months i bought a pair of freshly picked moccasins.  and today, bought my second pair- limited edition camo, how could i not.

minted. has been my go to source for mass stationery lately.  really easy to use and so many designs to choose from.

i used it for baby shower invitations and then our first year of holiday cards- new years cards saved the day since i definitely missed the cut for christmas.  i'm already scoping out birth announcements since i know i probably won't be able to throw together something original with everything that will be going on in the upcoming weeks.

minted is running a challenge with west elm right now- it's an art challenge where you vote on prints for west elm to carry.  in turn, you get $25 dollars- sign me up.  minted. x west elm

i used to despise going through runway shows and now i look forward to it- even checking back just to read the reviews alongside the collection.   i typically always like the same designers and they're the first ones i check and everyone else files after.  creatures of comfort is one of them- yet to disappoint.

we took a class a couple weeks ago with jo from kkibo and made plant hangers.  i want to expand on the basics learned and make a wall hanging or some kind of knotted something.

hopefully not too ambitious, but i hope to make mm a quilt while learning to do so at the same time.  i've been wanting to learn for a few years now and it's definitely something i need to try while i have time on my side.

weaving.  i'm in the middle/almost finished with my first weaving.  i didn't have a purpose in mind when starting, but my second go around will hopefully be baby centric.

i've been a long time blog follower,  but i'm really ready to join in.

i've been struggling with what to start with, so might be best to use a prompt.

i want to make the most of this new year.  the mini mulf will obviously complete my wish, but i hope to go beyond that.  i spent the last year sitting on the sidelines- feeling as though i wasn't making the most of my time.  i have a whole list of things i didn't do- this year, i'll make up for last.  i definitely got a head start with MM in 2013- so here's to a pretty stellar finish by years end.
